Woo wee, it's Baku, and it's been some time since Chapter 1 Part 7's update. There's a bit to go over so we'll jump right into it.
Since the last update, I've had some changes in my workflow and in my life that's made me more productive, and I've really felt I've been making my best work as of recently. Sadly I don't have much to show for it right now, but updates should be more consistent from here on out. The opening was almost as much work as a single chapter, but it was plagued by technical issues, irl delays, and it's scope blew up near the middle after I got some input from a few people. While this update is meant to go up on the 24th, it's actually being written on the 9th. At this point, it's completely done. It's been something I've wanted to make for the longest time, and to see it in full, completed, and actually decent looking, is still a crazy thing to me.
For the ACTUAL comic, I feel good about what's planned out. All chapters now have a standard 7 parts. This seems to be the sweet spot for the overall flow, and lets me add in stuff I had to cut from the original run. Chapter 1 only had a few things in the beginning cut, but the entire fight scene was something I regretted cutting. All the music will be their full arrangements and reworked a bit to be a better experience.
Now that I've broken off the rust from animations and videos, and knowing I've improved by putting all the things I've learned since my last big video project in nearly ten years, (!!!) I can give the music videos the justice they deserve, Chapter 1 will get an additional song added to it, as a way of making up for Kimatchi's theme being moved to a later part of the comic. Along with that, the new Volume 1 release will have all the songs from the beginning up to Chapter 10 on a new release. It will be a paid release on Bandcamp, but you can check out the songs on YouTube forever. Buying it WILL let you use it for streams and videos with a proper credit though. More info on that will be on it's release page.
But where have I been exactly? Planning and making storyboards for the opening, mostly. I took a trip to Phoenix in September, and while it wasn't a long trip, it did actually change my life in a good way. I'll eventually have a link to the whole experience someday, as I have a lot to share still, but that'll be on the back-burner for awhile. It's comic-mode for a good while, and I'm hoping this last good year for me ends up being a lot like the tail end of 2018 that'll jump-start more stuff for the comic.
Here's to 2025, I hope to see you soon, no matter when that is, it WILL be with Chapter 2 part 1, version 2.
